Rise Up and Build!

God’s vision for our church is beyond our imagination.

Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders you have done. The things you planned for us no one can recount to you; were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare. (Psalm 40:5 NIV84)

The leadership of Orange County Church of Christ have tried our best through prayer and fasting to be in tune with what God’s vision is for our church. We have landed on a long-range plan to have eight “worship centers” by the end of 2020.

Five Geographic Centers

Fullerton
Costa Mesa
Garden Grove
South Coast
Irvine

Three Language-based Centers

Spanish
Korean
Vietnamese

For this to happen, we need every disciple in the church to examine what gifts God has given him or her and decide to fully use these gifts to advance God’s kingdom.

Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms. (1 Peter 4:10 NIV84)

Places to Serve

  • Worship Ministries
  • Serving the Poor and Needy
  • Serving the hospitalized, the home-bound and the elderly
  • Small Group Leadership
  • Audio-Visual Ministry
  • Financial Giving
  • Youth Ministry (Preteen, Junior High and High School)
  • Administration
  • Full-time Ministry
  • Internet Ministry
  • Mission Trips to Mexico and Central America
  • Shepherding Ministry

This is just the beginning. In order to accomplish all God has in store for us, we must with one heart use all He has given us to build His kingdom in Orange County and beyond.

We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully. (Romans 12:6-8 NIV84)

Next Step: Leadership Training Series

One step in making this vision a reality is to train as many people as possible to lead small groups and to be shepherds for the church. To this end we are having a six-week training session for the church starting April 1 and ending June 10. These sessions will be interactive,  hands-on homework will be assigned at the end of each session as well.

Anyone who would like to become a small-group leader or a shepherd or who simply wants to grow in their spiritual leadership skills is invited.

To find out more and see a complete schedule visit our Rise Up and Build Leadership Series page.

Soon we will also post a list of other specific needs we have as a church so you will be able to volunteer for them as well. We are excited to see what God will do this decade and beyond as we work together with one heart to build God’s kingdom in Orange County.
