Rise Up and Build

Written by Kevin Mains on . Posted in Announcements, Events

God’s vision for our church is beyond our imagination.

Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders you have done. The things you planned for us no one can recount to you; were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare. (Psalm 40:5 NIV84)

The leadership of Orange County Church of Christ have tried our best through prayer and fasting to be in tune with what God’s vision is for our church. We have landed on a long-range plan to have eight “worship centers” by the end of 2020. Five of the centers would be geographic: Fullerton, Costa Mesa, Garden Grove, South Coast and Irvine. The others would be language based: Spanish, Korean and Vietnamese.

For this to happen, we need every disciple in the church to examine what gifts God has given him or her and decide to fully use these gifts to advance God’s kingdom.

Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms. (1 Peter 4:10 NIV84)

Forgiveness

Written by Marty Fuqua on . Posted in Forgiveness, Spiritual Growth

I want to write about something that all of us need and that all of us need to not only receive but all of us need to give. This is something that the Bible talks about that is a quality of a God.  What we are talking about is a quality that we need to have in our life. That quality is forgiveness. Let’s consider Psalm 103

“Praise the Lord, o my soul, all my inmost being praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, Oh my soul and forget not all his benefits”

Prayer

“I call on you, O God, for you will answer me; give ear to me and hear my prayer.” Psalm 17:6

Have you ever wondered what is the purpose of prayer? Doesn’t God already know what’s on our hearts? So why should we need to express it?  Here are some reasons to pray

  • We pray because God commands us to pray (Philippians 4:6-7).
  • Prayer is exemplified for us by Jesus and the early church (Mark 1:35; Acts 1:14).
  • Jesus thought it was worthwhile to pray, we should also.
