San Clemente Church

San Clemente Worship

We are very excited to share about our first San Clemente vision worship service. Over 40 people were in attendance, several of whom had never visited the church. We had a great time singing worship songs with the help of some of our campus students. Also, Mike and Julie Payne and Nick and Sandra Johnson (San Clemente residents) welcomed everyone and led our thoughts for the Lord’s Supper. It was an honor for me personally (Dan Roditi) to be able to preach because I lived in San Clemente for years and went to High School there. Many of us had friends there and we even had someone who was driving by, saw our sign and decided to come in and worship with us. It was a great victory for God and all those who live in San Clemente, San Juan, and Dana Point. Our vision and prayer is to eventually have a service consistently meeting in that part of the county. For the coming year, we would like to have at least 3 more services in San Clemente and neighboring cities. Please pray for us that will continue to move hearts to see many more come to Christ in the southern coast of O.C.

Lost and Found!

The Orange County Church proudly presented the children’s play “Lost at Sea.” It was a fun, inspirational play put on by Michelle Voccola and Charles and Teresa Lennox. They did a fabulous job rehearsing for three months with the children who participated in the play. This production was a musical filled with a spiritual message about seeking Christ in a lost world. Children and adults alike left feeling encouraged to reach out to their friends and family and humming catchy tunes.

Children’s Play Next Sunday!

We are pleased to let you know that next Sunday, November 4th the Orange County Church of Christ Children’s Theater Club will be presenting a play! Here are the details.

“L.O.S.T. BUT NOW I’M FOUND!”

We’re Setting Sail, we’re flying high, we’re heading towards the sun….

Come along on this voyage with all the crew of the S.S. Hope as they set sail on a day cruise that gets caught up in a storm and becomes stranded on an island. Come see how the storms of life confront them to evaluate if their faith is built on the shifting sand or the Solid Rock, Jesus Christ.

Matthew 7:24-25, “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock”… Jesus

John 6:35, Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.

The Theater Club consists of boys and girls ranging in age from 5 – 13 years old who love to sing, act, and dance and ultimately give Glory to God. Our Club focuses on teaching theater skills and music while holding biblical devotions that coincide with what our focus for that day’s rehearsal is. We are grateful for the many hearts who devote their time and energy to serve these kids and expose them to the many ways they can use their gifts for God.

One Performance Only!!!

You can watch the play this Sunday, November 4th at 11 AM
10 Goodyear, Irvine CA 92618

MCA Update

OC Reaches Missions Goal!

Since the year 2000, the Orange County Church of Christ has partnered with churches in Latin America to ensure that people in the rest of the continent have the opportunity to receive the Word of God. The church here has donated millions of dollars toward that mission field, and this year was no exception. As announced a few weeks ago by evangelist Kevin Mains, this year the Orange County Church of Christ has raised $275,000 to support churches in Mexico and Central America!

As President of MCA Missions, which is in charge of distributing funds, I want to thank each and every member of the OC Church for your generosity. I am very aware of the sacrifices that many of you had to make this year, especially during a difficult time in our economy. You have chosen to store up treasures in heaven, not on earth (Matthew 6:19-21). Please believe with all your heart that your gift will be blessed by God. On behalf of our brothers and sisters in Mexico and Central America, thank you!

Exciting things that have happened this year

  • The brothers and sisters in Honduras welcomed the newest addition to the family: the planting of a church in the city of Comayagua!
  • The church in Guadalajara (Mexico) celebrated the appointment of Francisco and Angelica Botello as Evangelist and Women’s Ministry Leader, respectively!
  • Led by Marcelo and Maria Gema Carcamo from San Salvador, the campus ministry in Central America is experiencing a great revival, with Bible Talks in major universities and many students being baptized and trained to impact the next generation!
  • In spite of the wave of violence that has struck fear in the hearts of citizens of many cities in Northern Mexico, the churches there continue to preach the gospel boldly and to make disciples.

We still face major challenges, but the churches in the region are praying and preparing to meet the needs. One of our greatest challenges is to build a powerful campus ministry at the National University of Mexico (UNAM). This huge campus that instructs tens of thousands of young men and women was the main mission field when the Mexico City Church was planted in 1987; however, due to lack of resources this ministry has decreased in its impact. Thanks to the missions contributions of the Orange County Church and of other ministries in the larger fellowship of the Los Angeles International Church of Christ, we hope to be able to hire a full-time ministry couple to re-launch this very important ministry at UNAM!

You can visit us at The Mission Diaries for more news and testimonials. Thanks for your partnership in the gospel of Christ!

Raising Hope

The Orange County Church of Christ is hosting our 2nd Annual Family Day and Carnival on September, 30, 2012 at 10 AM at our building on 10 Goodyear, Irvine. The theme this year is “Raising Hope”. Raising children in our world today can be a scary undertaking given the moral decay of our society. Just listening to the news each day can produce feelings of concern and fear as we think about what the future holds for our children. How can we have hope for a brighter future and hope that our families can shine like stars in this world? During the worship service, Mike and Libby Rock, our guest speakers, will answer this question by sharing God’s Word and their lives. Their story and message is not only for those who are married but also for teens, campus students and singles because every generation needs hope that they too can build an incredible family for future generations. Register for the carnival by clicking here: Orange County Family Carnival.

Mike & Libby Rock have been married 31 years and have raised two awesome boys – Jake, 25 who is married to Kelsey, and Scott, 21. The Rocks have undergone many spiritual tests that they have allowed to refine their characters, unite them as a family and bring them all closer to God. Mike and Libby have spent many years of their lives serving families in churches all over the world, so they are very aware and in tune to the needs and challenges of family life. They have served in the ministry all around the U.S. – including California, Colorado, Arizona and Florida and have been courageously involved with churches in the Middle East, and have helped to plant

Orange County Teen Ministry Camp

2012 Teen Camp: “All In”

My wife Virginia and I have the pleasure of serving in this amazing youth ministry, and we’re excited to bring you news from our annual LAICC Summer Teen Camp! During the week of August 6-10, over 350 students from all over Los Angeles gathered together at Pine Summit Christian camp for our summer camp entitled “ALL IN.” We had a great turnout from our teenagers in Orange County, with almost 50 of our students attending camp!

2012 LA Teen CampIt is clear that through the powerful message of the cross, God has gone ALL IN for us. In planning the camp, our hope and prayer was that the young members of our church would be moved by Jesus’ sacrifice and in turn, be inspired to go ALL IN themselves for God. Each night the camp would come together for a time of worship and for a message that expanded on the ALL IN theme of the camp. After these lessons, each cabin would get together for a time to discuss the keynote lessons, which would allow them to apply these lessons to their own personal lives. Each day also consisted of amazing workshops with topics ranging from “Family Drama” to Apologetics. These times, combined with intense team competitions and challenges, created a fun, exciting, and unforgettable environment for the teens. Not only did the teens have an amazing time at camp, but it was clear God was moving in order to call each of them higher in their spiritual lives!

2012 LA Teen Camp GirlsAs with any conference or summer program, the impact of our Teen Camp not only lies in the week of camp itself, but also on the follow-up that consists once the campers return home. For some, camp challenged the students to take ownership of their ministry and to lead their families and their peers. For others, Teen Camp inspired them to be more vulnerable and sacrificial in their friendships within the ministry. Additionally, many of the teens that attended camp have returned home with an intention to study the Bible to gain a better understanding of what God wants for their lives! We ask that you pray for God to continue to move in our the hearts of our teenagers, and God willing, we will have many of our students become committed disciples of Christ in the weeks and months following this amazing camp!
